William Isaiah Young— William Isaiah Young, 97, a resident of Crow Hill Road in Arlington, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at Fairwinds Residential Care Facility.

Bill was born in Arlington on August 15, 1921 the son of the late Robert and Ethel Hall Young. He attended school in Arlington graduating from Arlington Memorial High School class of 1938.

He first worked as a farmer on the Whimsey farm in Arlington before owning and operating his own farm in West Arlington. Bill then worked as custodian and bus driver for Arlington school, was a carpenter helping build his own home with Clyde Dunlap, and retired from the Orvis Company as maker of bamboo fly rods.

William Isaiah Young was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to play golf, and enjoyed traveling when his wife was still alive. Bill married Lillian Bowen on July 3, 1943 at the Episcopal Church in Arlington and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage.

Survivors

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Lillian, his older brother, Chester Young and his younger sister, Clara (Young) Lindsey. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Arthur Whitman of Shaftsbury, VT, grandchildren Mark Whitman and his wife Greta, Jeffrey Whitman and his wife Terriann, great grandchildren Angus, Abigale, Matthew, and Eric.

The family would like to recognize the exceptional care given to Bill by the staff at Fairwinds Residential Care Facility in North Bennington and the nursing and hospice staff of Bayada. At the request of the family there will be no formal funeral services.
