Queensbury, NY — William E Allen, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at his home in Queensbury.

Born on October 7, 1927, in Glens Falls, he was the son of William H. and Blanch Webb Allen. He attended Glens Falls High School.

Following high school, he entered the United States Navy. He proudly served from October 20, 1944 until he was honorably discharged on July 14, 1946 as a Fireman First Class. During his time in the Navy, he served on many vessels and stations, including the NRS Albany, NY, NTS Sampson, NY, RN Bayonne, NJ, RS Miami, Fla, MTRRONS #41, AGC Brooklyn, NY, USS Europa, RS Philadelphia, PA, SS Ditmars Chen and the PSC Lido Beach, LI, NY. A World War II veteran, he received the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal for his dedicated service.

On January 19, 1946, he married his beloved wife, June (Haskins) Allen.

He was self-employed as an electrician, running Bill Allen Electric.

Bill loved making things out of wood, doing yard work and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Allen; his sons, Donald Allen, James Allen, Stephen Allen and Edward Allen; his brother, Gerald Allen of Ohio.

Those left to cherish the memory of William E Allen are his wife, June Allen of Queensbury; his daughter, Cynthia Lemery of Queensbury; his sons, William (Toni) Allen of Glens Falls and Christopher Allen of Queensbury; his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Allen; many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Norma (Jack) Calkins of Auburn and Patricia Robichaud of Queensbury; his brothers, Roger (Brenda) Allen of N.C. and Harold Allen of South Glens Falls; his in-laws, Paul and Leslie Haskins of MO; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Church of our Lady of the Annunciation, with the Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow Mass at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Rd., Queensbury.
