Arlington, VT – William Read White, 83, of Arlington VT, died December 24, 2022. He was in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, as he wished.

He was born to the late Frank and Helen White of Arlington, VT, on July 8, 1939.

Bill graduated from Arlington Memorial High School in 1957. He then went on to take classes at Wentworth, UVM, UCONN, University of Hartford, and Kansas State University.

Bill married (Molly) Mary C. White in 1969, and they lived together in Arlington, VT.

Bill worked most of his life in the field of (both building and road) construction in CT, NH, MA, and VT. He was a Grade Foreman and Superintendent for the Palazzi Corp. for twelve years when he retired in 1990. He made and groomed snow at Bromley Ski Area for three winters. And worked at The Stratton Sports Center for six years. He most recently worked part time at Chem Clean in Arlington for six years.

Bill was Past President of the Alumni Association of AMHS in the early 1970’s. He was an avid snowmobiler until an unfortunate automobile accident in 1987 left him disabled. He helped to organize the Green Mountain Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club in the beginning days of V.A.S.T. He and Molly loved snowmobiling onto Somerset Reservoir on full moon nights and cooking hot dogs over a fire. Or leaving their home on Rt. 7A in Arlington, and snowmobiling all the way to MA. Back in the old days!

He very much enjoyed taking trips with his wife, Molly. Trips included: York Beach, ME; Acadia National Park, ME; Abilene, TX; New Orleans, LA; around Lake Huron; around Lake Superior; Niagara Falls; Chincoteague National Seashore; Wyoming; and St. John, VI. Bill also loved taking family camping trips and had camped at most every State Park in VT. His favorite season was Deer Hunting Season and he had bagged many a buck. He was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed watching live ice hockey games.

He always had a keen sense of forecasting how something would turn out and saying “Mark my words”. Funny, but he was always right and didn’t want you to forget it! Bill had a lively sense of humor and mischief. His children and grandchildren never tired hearing Big Bill’s stories of highjinks. Some family favorites include: when he put an outhouse (which may or may not have had someone in it) in front of the double doors at AMHS; and when he changed the Saint James Episcopal church loudspeaker from playing church hymns to Hank Williams. Even later in life he still showed a sense of humor. Instead of draining his pool, he went out mid-day and shot it full of holes with a 45 magnum.

Bill served our country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was an in-country Vietnam veteran and held the position of Head Armorer.

Bill is survived by: Wife, Molly; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Kim & Will Belongia of Waterbury Center, VT; Son & Daughter-In-Law, Cory White & Marlene Holcomb of East Dorset, VT; and seven adorable and extremely smart Grandchildren: Anna Belongia, Sawyer Belongia, Cassidy White, Colton White, Harleigh White, Huck White & Breck White. And many nieces & nephews.

Bill requested no church service and a private committal at the convenience of the family. To send personal condolences, please visit www.sheafuneralhomes.com

Lawton, Oklahoma – CSM (Retired) Roger Lynn Casinger, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on December 9, 2022, in Lawton, Okla. He was 83 years old.

Roger was born on January 17, 1939, the oldest of three sons and a daughter born to L.D. and Ima Jean (Rogers) Casinger of Clinton, Ark. He graduated from Little Rock’s Central High School in 1957 and enlisted in the U.S. Army; he completed his basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.

During his remarkable, 30-year active-duty career he received many awards, recognitions, and commendations for his combat service in Vietnam, his tours of duty in Japan and Germany in support of the U.S. commitment to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and his leadership as the Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Armored Division Artillery in Zirndorf, Germany.

Though he retired from active duty as a Command Sergeant Major in 1987, he continued his service to his country as a contractor for the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he helped develop and field equipment for his field artillery brothers and sisters. After more than 50 years of service to his country, he officially retired in 2009.

Roger was an animal lover and had cats and dogs all his life. He also enjoyed military history, collecting autographs, painting military figurines, traveling, and watching movies. His autograph collection is rivaled only by his movie collection. Though his family was always scattered across the country, he didn’t let a birthday go by without calling to sing Happy Birthday.

Along the way, Roger suffered his share of heartbreak. He lost his high school sweetheart, and wife of 47 years, Billie Jean (Pearrow) on September 16, 2004, and his son, Mark on March 27, 2009.

He was blessed with a second chance at happiness when he married Marilyn Sue (Pearrow) on August 30, 2005. He and Sue were married for 18 years until his passing.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sue, his children, Don (Debbie), Julie (Shannon), and Michael (Lisa), his stepdaughters Kim and Traci, his grandchildren Amanda, Kimberly, Zachary, Sean, Christopher, Heidi, Ben, Noah, Christian, Talyia, and Tyler, 13 great-grandchildren, his brother Jimmy, his sister Donna, and many nieces and nephews.

He will be celebrated at Pinecrest Memorial Park Chapel in Alexander, Arkansas, on Monday, December 19, 2022, at noon. Interment with full military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Veteran’s Field of Honor.

“Heroism doesn’t always happen in a burst of glory. Sometimes small triumphs and large hearts change the course of history.”—Mary Roach

Fernley, NV – Mary Rubert (Marie), 91, of Fernley, Nevada Passed February 10th 2020 in Fernley. She was born in Hamilton, Canada on October 28th 1928 as the daughter of Corradetti & Angellina Corradetti.

Mary had one brother, Ray Corradetti; and one sister, Claire Unbar.
She was a resident of Canada until she married (Frank Rubert), her husband of 55 years. She had six children : Mark, Phillip, Dennis, Madeline, Randy and Kieth. Mary was a grandmother to Charlie Butler and Zack Butler and a great grandmother to Brooks Butler.

She loved music and singing and worked with Reno Nevada University Drama Department. Mary enjoyed her grandchildren and encouraged them into acting and singing. She loved living in the country and volunteering for community singing events.

Mary was a long time resident of Fernley NV. Mary enjoyed traveling to Northern Nevada towns and took interest in community development and small town changes.

Mom said that she is the only lady that ever said no to dating Frank Sinatra. Mary was a stay at home company commander mother and raised 6 kids while Dad worked two jobs. Mom told me once “ Dennis if your friends are about to do something wrong, tell them that you are going to
get a drink of water then do not come back.”

Mom was born during the depression in 1928, to which she could be stern at times but gentle when needed. When my oldest brother Mark went
to serve in Vietnam, I remembered mom crying when he got on the bus.
Mom really enjoyed her only daughter Madeline. They would do the girl stuff together including Girl Scouts and attending a theater group “Reno Little Theater” Madeline sang the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. She often said that her sons Phillip, Randy, and Keith were the
quiet ones and for that she was happy.
