West Sand Lake, NY – William W Beck, 91 of West Sand Lake, died Friday December 9th at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

William was a graduate of Averill Park High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. Upon graduation Bill joined the US Navy and served aboard the destroyer escort USS Mc Caffery.

He was a lover of the Lord and the Trinity Lutheran Church in West Sand Lake and Gilead Lutheran Church in Center Brunswick. He was a dedicated husband and father to his family. William’s first love was the love of the outdoors and hunting. William spent most of his life outdoors hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp in the Adirondacks. His love for the outdoors while hunting created many stories that he loved to tell to anyone who would listen. He was a member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Club for many years and enjoyed spending time there.

Bill worked for the NY Telephone Company for 35 years and spent many a day talking about his love for that job well into his later years. He retired 36 years ago and later worked for several years for Federal Wildlife Management.
