Flatwood West Virginia – Daniel “Danny” Lee Cogar, 82, of Sutton, WV passed away on November 16, 2022. Danny was born on November 20, 1939 to parents Buster and Vera Simmons Cogar.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Rita Mae Cogar; Brothers: James Cogar, John Dale Cogar, Kenneth Cogar, Gary Cogar, Melvin “Gene” Cogar and Porter Cogar.

Danny was retired from Local 132 of the Operating Engineers and served in the United States ARMY. He was a member of Sutton Moose Club #825, Braxton County Rotary Club and St Thomas Catholic Church. Danny enjoyed playing cards, gardening, hunting, fishing, and was an avid sports fan, especially local sports. He was one of the founders of the Braxton County Redskins football team.

Danny is survived by his Daughter’s: Michaela Long (George), Margaret Rollyson (Jamie), and Marcey Greene (Keith); Son: Daniel Lee Cogar II (Sammie); Brother: Joe Cogar; Sisters: Betty Bull, Sandra Gillespie and Mary Lewis; 9-Grandchildren: Megan Shuman (Cody), Vicki Shaver (Clayton), Brianna Myers (Ryan), Nick Long (Shelly), Tyler Long (Cayla), MacKenzie Barrett (Dylan), Garrett Gillespie, Jett and Baine Cogar;

His Great Grandchildren were his pride and joy: Brinley Myers, Caleb and Rachel Long, Conway Barrett, Colter and Reed Shaver and Charlie Snyder. He was looking forward to the birth of baby boy Jennings Barrett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family is honoring Danny’s wishes to be cremated. A funeral Mass service will be held at 12:00 PM on November 26, 2022 at St Thomas Catholic Church in Gassaway, WV with Father Thien Nguyen officiating. Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM.

Bennington, Vt

— Kathleen P Nichols, 79, a resident of Gage Street, passed away Tuesday November 13, 2018 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.

Kathleen was born in Rutland, VT on May 27, 1939 the daughter of the late Carlton and Alice Lancour Rockwell and attended local schools. Kathleen worked for the Thompson Mill for 18 years and Polygraphic in North Bennington for 6 years.

She enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, bowling in leagues and attending bowling tournaments out of state. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Club in Bennington in addition to being a former member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church in North Bennington.

Kathleen is survived by nieces Darlene O’Dell of Rutland, Debbie Guyette of Rutland, Donna Martin, Pauline Burdge, Brenda Martin all of Bennington and Marjorie Sweet of Oklahoma, her lifelong friend Gail Arasim of Bennington and several cousins, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, 4 brothers a nephew and a cousin.

Funeral Information

Funeral services for Kathleen P Nichols will be held Friday November 16, 2018 at 11:30am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday evening November 15, 2018 from 5-7pm. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O.
