Danby, VT- Suzanne Marie Ackert, 60, of Danby, died unexpectedly Saturday December 10, at her residence.

She was born in Bridgeport Connecticut on June 2, 1962, the daughter of Henry and Maryann (Welch) Tierney. She attended schools in Connecticut before moving to Vermont where she completed her education.

She had been employed by the satellite office for the Rutland Regional Medical Center in East Dorset.

Suzanne was kindhearted and liked helping people which made her a perfect fit for working in registration for the hospital.

She enjoyed riding motorcycle and camping.

She married Ben Ackert on July 28, 1984.

Suzanne is survived by her husband Allen (Ben) Ackert of Danby, sons David (Ashley Santwire) of Rutland and Peter of Danby, sisters Maureen (Kelley) Staples, Colleen (Byron) Battease, and Teresa Tierney, all of Danby and Henry Tierney of Addison, 3 grandchildren Jake, Jack and Jett, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 PM on Friday, December 16, at the Wallingford Aldous Funeral Home. A brief service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pete was born on February 22, 1927 in Dorset, the son of the late Edward and Hazel (Reid) Moffit.

He met and married Charlotte “Hon” Howard in Dorset. They eventually moved to Wells where they established their home and raised their family.

Pete was a logger in his younger years, then went to work at J. K. Adams until he eventually became disabled. As reflected in his job choices, Pete loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed camping and gardening. If there was nothing else on his agenda, his favorite place to seat was outdoors.

It needs to be noted that Darrell went by his nickname “Pete”, not only with his friend,s but his children also called him “Pete” not Dad. Charlotte was “Hon” always. So Pete and Hon will be fondly remembered by all.

Pete was predeceased by his parents, six brothers Cyrus, Eugene, Edward and three as children and 3 sisters Mary, Mamie and Ruth, 2 sons Darrell and Walter and his beloved wife “Hon”. Left to cherish his memory are his children Mary Haskins (Doug) of Wells, Bruce (fiancé Irene) of Petersburg, NY, Philip (Jenny) of Stephentown, NY, Robert (companion Marie) of Bennington, Kevin of Wells and William (companion Linda) of S. Granville, NY. He was blessed with many grand children and his sister Alice Shattuck of North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3 PM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY. Friends may call from 2 PM until the time of the service.

— Eugenia G Cross, 88 a longtime resident of Ray Hill Road passed away unexpectedly Saturday November 3, 2018 in Keene, New Hampshire.

The daughter of the late Leo and Irene (Soltys) Rubazewicz , she was born in Rego Park, Queens, New York on April 12, 1930. She graduated from Forest Hills High School and then went to work on Wall Street in Investment Banking , she later worked in finance in Brattleboro and Lackeys’ Garage in Wilmington. She retired from G. S. Precision in Wilmington.

Jeanne was a strong woman who enjoyed her family immensely, She was devoted to her Catholic faith and enjoyed shopping, visiting the ocean and camping with her family.

She leaves her daughters Deborah Cross and Kevin Robinson of Stratton, Donna and Mark Yule of Wilmington and Amanda Cross and Kevin Butler of Whitingham, a son Randolph Cross and Nancy Hofer of West Glover, her beloved daughter in law Sally Cross of Brattleboro , grandchildren ; Katie Cross, Amber Robinson, Ashton Robinson, Jason Cross, Weston Yule, Tanner Yule, Cody Yule and Colton Butler, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Myron Cross in 2005 , her son Michael Cross in 2014 , son Stephen and her sister Rose-Marie Fabian.
