Susan Z Crouse

GRANVILLE NY – Susan Z Crouse passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at her home.

Sue was born on January 4, 1921 in Granville, NY the daughter of the late Alex and Helen (Flisko) Zidoviski.

She was a graduate of Granville High School and lived her entire life in this community. Upon graduation she undertook housekeeping jobs which eventually led to working for the Berkowitz family caring for their son. Over the years she worked in many area businesses, Telescope Casual Furniture, Kazon Dress Shop in Poultney, Whitehall Coat Shop in Whitehall, Nora Lee Lingerie in Granville, Scotties Gift Shop and finally at J & J Lingerie in Granville. She was a hard worker and gained valuable skills throughout the years. She retired from J &J Lingerie as manager, a position she held for 18 years. Her retirement was in 1986.

When she gave birth to her daughter, which was a joy in her life, she undertook making most of Michelle’s clothes along with knitted and crocheted items. A true labor of love. They were items that today, still mean the world to Michelle. Sue eventually undertook quilting as well. She was always passionate about her flower and vegetable gardens. When her infirmities made it impossible for her to do the tasks required she would say to her caregivers, “How about we go out and weed in the garden today?” The “we” she was referring to was them, but she sat close by and watched.

She enjoyed attending gatherings at Young at Heart in Poultney and the friendships she made there through the years. Sue looked forward with anticipation to attend the Farmer’s Market.

She also enjoyed time spent at Michelle and Terry’s home for family gatherings or to enjoy their gardens and other domestic projects.

Sue was predeceased by her husband William B. Crouse, her siblings Michael Zidovsky, Helen Gilbert and Mary Hallar.
