Bennington, Vt — Ralph E Gustavson, 90, a resident of Center Street, passed away Sunday February 17, 2019 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation.

Ralph was born in Danbury, CT on October 7, 1928 the son of the late George and Isabelle Tremont Gustavson and attended Danbury, CT schools. Along with his wife Joyce, Ralph owned and operated the Harwood Hill Motel for 20 years.

Ralph E Gustavson was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge #567 and a social member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 13 also in Bennington. Ralph enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting and collecting guns. He enjoyed dancing, playing guitar and the sounds of Pop Standards and Big Band music. He also liked to travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina once a year.

Ralph E Gustavson is survived by his wife Joyce Marie LaCroix Gustavson of Bennington whom he married May 16, 1992 in Bennington, son Keith Gustavson and his wife Antoinette of Danbury, CT, daughter Kristie A. Wright and her husband Dennis of Fitchburgh, MA, daughter-in-law Kathleen Gustavson of Canton, MA sister Lillian McCue of Danbury, CT, brother Rudolph Gustavson and his wife Helen of Danbury, CT, grandchildren Tarah Somers and her husband Kenneth of Canton, MA, Trina Gustavson of Danbury, CT and Alannah Gustavson and her husband Erik of Maynard, MA, five great grandchildren, 9 step children, 23 step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara S. Gustavson, son Kevin R. Gustavson, brothers Richard and Raymond Gustavson and one step-daughter.

Funeral Information

A celebration of the life of Ralph E. Gustavson will be held Monday February 25, 2019 at 1pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in the family lot in Parklawn Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held Monday February 25, 2019 from noon-1pm one hour prior to the service.
