Norman Howard Dobert— Norman Howard Dobert (yes, of blue moon ice cream fame) passed away peacefully on November 28, 2018. He was born in 1932 in Glens Falls, NY to Norman W. and Ella Mae (Ott) Dobert.  He graduated from Glens Falls High School and received his degree from Cornell University.  After serving in the Army, Norm returned home to Glens Falls and joined the family business, Dobert’s Dairy.

In September 1959, Norm was lucky enough to marry Nancy Claydon and began another journey of life and family.  Throughout the years Norm dedicated himself to his family, the business and the community.  He was very active as a member in the NYS Dairy Association, the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls, the Masons and Independent Living Center (SAIL).  Norm was happiest when helping others and he also greatly enjoyed the sharing of stories.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy, son Scott Dobert and wife Kelly, daughter Sarah Wolverton and husband Robert, daughter Suzanne Ringer and husband Larry, son Steven Dobert and wife Lily as well as grandchildren Austin, Kacey, Emily, Paul, Elizabeth, Matthew, Josh, Jesse and Sean.  His is also survived by his sister Sharon McPherson and brothers Marvin and Gary Dobert.  Also missing Norm is his companion and pup, Suzue.

Norman Howard Dobert would wish for you to enjoy a day filled with “dirt dogs,” ice cream and a nice winding putt-putt drive with your dog.

The family would like to especially thank the West Glens Falls EMS team for getting Norm where he needed to be with such kindness and compassion, Dr. Bill Tedesco and the wonderful team at Glens Falls Hospital T3.  We are grateful for all efforts, kindness and understanding.  To Cathy and Karen, we could not have done this without you.

There will be a private memorial at the convenience of the family.
