James F Daley— James F Daley, 64, a resident of Peru VT, passed away September 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. James was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 21, 1954 the son of Francis and Dorothy Wilkins Daley. He attended school in Peru and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary.

James served as Peru Road Commissioner for 29 years retiring in 2014. He previously worked at Bromley Village but farming and tending to his farm animals was his true passion. He was the former Peru Town Constable, Fire Chief, Zoning Board Member and was a ski patrol member at Bromley Mountain. He enjoyed listening to country music, loved hunting and fishing, cruising on his Ranger side by side, loved basketball and was an avid Washington Wizards fan.

James is survived by his wife Robin Merrow Daley whom he married June 28, 1975 in South Londonderry, children Jessica Gordon and her husband Ian of West Rutland and James F. Daley Jr and his wife Lucie of Dorset, his mother Dorothy Daley of Largo, FL brother Pascal Wilkins of South Londonderry, sisters Teresa Mench of Largo, FL, Monica Lightfoot of Winhall. VT, Karen Daley-Regan of Ascutney, VT and Kate Malcolm of Seminole, FL, and grandchildren Carson and Chloe Gordon and Emma Daley. He was preceded in death by his father Francis Daley.

Funeral Information

Funeral services for James were held Saturday October 6, at 1:00pm at the Peru Congregational Church with a celebration of life immediately following service at the Peru Town Hall. Memorial gifts in James’ memory may be made to the Peru Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester center, VT 05255.
