Jerry pursued her higher education at Oklahoma Baptist University preparing for a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at OBU she met Marvin Lytle.  They were married on May 24th, 1945.  Jerry put her education and career on hold to work with Marvin founding, building, and pastoring eight churches (in Oklahoma, California, Alaska, Texas and Belmopan, Belize).  While raising seven children, she finished her degree at Tyler Jr. College.

She started the Smith County Literacy Council in Tyler, Texas to teach adults to read and write.  When their youngest son started school, Jerry returned to school and received her degree as a registered nurse in 1967.  She worked at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas as well as doing home health care around the city.

In 1972, Jerry and her two youngest boys took a trip to Belize, Central America to visit missionary friends.  She saw a need for both Spiritual and physical health care and moved to Belize.  She worked for the government as a nurse and later trained in Midwifery (helping to bring many children into the world–including one of her own granddaughters).  She started a small church in her home and was later joined by Marvin and another of their sons.

Geraldine Lytle and Marvin Pastored The Church of the Good Shepherd there until returning to Texas in 1983.  Because of her love for writing and publishing, in September 1993 she completed a two-year program from the Christian Writers Institute.  Jerry continued to give of herself to bring joy into the lives of those around her even while living in Elgin Rehab and Nursing facility for nearly 6 years.
